Downtown Raleigh Apiary Project

As you may already know, Market has been a friend to bees since we opened our doors in May of 2010. In cooperation with Ben "Mr. Buzz" Crawley, we had a couple of bee hives installed on the roof of our restaurant in an effort support the local ecology.

Well, we recently created a Kickstarter Project in an effort to gather support for our project to expand the existing hives in cooperation with our gracious neighbors, Escazu Chocolates.

We want to provide a space in downtown Raleigh to host honeybees to help keep populations up and to pollenate the various plants and gardens in the area. Honeybees are an incredibly important aspect to our environment and they produce sweet, delicious honey! The honey will be used in various dishes at Market as well as Escazu.

While one of the backer rewards will include a 12oz jar of fresh honey, upon successful completion of the project we plan to kick-off a CSA(piary) program that will provide honey to shareholders. Every backer of our Downtown Raleigh Apiary project will have the opportunity to participate, so check it out and keep an eye on this blog for more details!
